Mom wants us to tell you kitties ...Babe's mom, passed last Saturday Feb 12. She will always be remembered for her sweetness, humor, silliness, baking (yum) and her personal relationship with her Lord.
We will always have an empty spot in our hearts for our beloved friend. Grand-ma always gave us lots of treats and love.

Babe is doing O.K. He is now following Mom around and has adopted her as his new Mom.

We had a nice Christmas. The house was full of those people again, so we hide.

It was a very busy time with all the shopping we had to do. We offered to help Mom do the wrapping, but she said NO! We are very good at wrapping!

Well here we are ...the run of the house in the middle of the night.

Poor Babe, he's so tired after our run.

Chancy: Hope every kitty had a great Halloween. We went trick or treating last night. Our costumes were out of this world. Nobody new who we were! Jake was a pirate, Babe was a witch and I was a princess. Of course I was beautiful. We got tons and tons of goodies. Mom wouldn't let us eat all our goodies, we had to put some away for later.

Mom is still very busy with GGma. She had a pacemaker put in several weeks ago. It seems to have helped some.

I have to go now and help Mom with GGma. Be back as soon.

Stopping by to say hi!

Hello kitties! Things here are still very busy. Mom is still running after GG-Ma. The past several weeks GG-Ma has been doing fine and wants to eat all the time. Now she sleeps only a couple hours during the day, compared to sleeping most of the time, several weeks ago. She loves cream puffs, she can eat a box of 13 on one sitting. Of course these are not the regular size, they are about a two bite size or one large bite. Mom has to try to slow her down, it gets expensive feeding her craves.

Mom has a monitor set up in almost every room, so we can hear her if she needs something. Sometimes she calls for Mom just to ask her what she is doing. Her dementia is far worse and so is her hearing.

Mom says, sometimes it's like trying to deal with a two year old.

I'm sure you all know what it's like to talk to a two year old and try to make them understand anything.

GG-Ma is in good spirits. Thank God! She gives us kitties treats, sometimes more than we should have. We love GG-Ma :0)

Everything here is still quit busy. Mom tries to use her time the best she can. As she says, "she is always on call for G-Gma" "and she has several stores to maintain on Zazzle"

We love kitty blogging and don't want to give it up. It's just been so hard to get to it. We hope someday things will slow down. G-Gma has her good days and bad days. Sometimes she can be very demanding. (a lot of the time)

We just celebrated her 89th birthday. We had a big cake and all the family was here to celebrate with her.

Us kitties hid until everyone was gone. The little kids like to hunt for us, but we hide real good.

G-Gma is still living with us. From here I can watch Mom running to G-Gma's room, a million times a day.

Mom says she should be skin & bones, with all the running she does. Nah!

I'm dictating this to Mom while she types. I love being the boss. I keep telling her we need to get back to our blogging. She always says, o.k., but something always stops us.

Yep, there she goes, running again!

We finally got Mom to blog for us. Hip, hip ha-ray!
She's always so busy. We always miss our friends here.

We have been helping Mom take care of gg-ma. Gg-ma likes to keep a bowl of water in her room for us, so we will come visit here and get a drink. Jake loves to put his paw in the water and sometimes will tip it. He thinks that's so cool. Gg-ma got mad at him one time and called him dummy. Jake don't care, he still gets kicks from dumping the water.

Mom has had her new camera for a few weeks now and still is trying to figure it out. She's taken some really blurry pictures of us. That's not cool! she says it's because her med's give her the shakes sometimes.

We are happy Kismet is getting the help he needs. Please get well Kismet.

Mom and some other nice humans have been working on a project to help Haiti.

They have been making hearts for "Hearts for Haiti" Zazzle store. All profits go to "Hope for Haiti" to disburse to Haiti. We think that's cool.

It's a lazy Monday

We are so happy Christmas is over. We are tired of all the hiding we need to do when visitors come. There were little voices all over the house saying lets find the cats. They had flashlights, and were very serious about the hunt. They were organized and we were afraid they would track us down and want to cuddle us. But, we had great places to hide from the voices. After a long time hiding, the house was quiet. We new it was safe to come out of hiding then. We creep down the hall very slowly, it's still quiet, it must be safe now. Peek around the corner, nobody's there. Oh what a relief to go to the water & food dish, then the box. No harassment. Peace at last!

Mom still can't find the battery charger for her camera. It's a mystery! We have tried to investigate this to no avail. Us cats can usually find anything. She finally gave up the hunt and purchased a new camera. She needed a more updated one anyway. It should be arriving at our house within a week. We can't wait. She wants a picture of us three together. Don't think that will happen...maybe two of us, but never all three together at one time.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of good stuff.

Mom has always known exactly where everything is in our house. Well, guess what? Now Mom lost the battery charger for her camera.
With two extra people living with us, she seems to scatter her stuff all over the house. She can't seem to keep organized any more. She says, bits and pieces of her are scattered all over the house.

The tree has been up for a week. It's still not decorated. A strand of lights, smack dab in the center, are out. They gotta get this stuff taken care of. The storage box of ornaments and extra lights are beside the tree.

We just sit back and watch the turmoil!

Oh... humans are so silly sometimes!

It's been awhile since we've been here. Mom got her camera working.
She snapped a couple pix of us. We really miss blogging. Mom gets busy and just runs out of time and energy. After all, she is getting up there in years, ya know?

Jake: I sit and stair at mom until she gives me my treats. Mom says, I could stair a hole through her with my big round eyes.

Chancy: I stair at mom when I want my wet food. I don't give up, I glare until I get it. Sometimes, I have to follow her around, to get my point across. I think she is a little dense!

We want to thank all you kitties for welcoming us back. That made us feel sooooooo good. Thank you-thank you.

Nap time is almost here. All 3 of us scatter around to find the best spots.

Chancy: I love to nap on the sofa or under Dad's bed. Since it started to thunder, Ill go under the bed.

Jake: I love my perch cubbyhole. Since I'm black, I'm hard to see in there. I like that!

Babe: I always nap with G-Gma in bed. She needs me there, or she gets cranky. Sometimes I have a hard time getting to the litter box or food, or just to play and have a little fun. G-Gma is always checking on me or calling me. One time she had Chancy & Jake's Mom, move the bed closer to the wall, so I couldn't fall down there. G-Gma has some funny ideas sometimes. We have to live with it or G-Gma feels bad. We do, what we can to keep her happy.

Chancy, Jake & Babe...the thunder stopped, going blogging now, then a long nap. Talk later.

I still love to play fetch, as you can see in my pix. Mom wads up paper into a ball and pitches it. I usually try to second guess her and run part way to where I think she will toss it. I'm good!

How is everyone today? We didn't mean to be away so long. Things in our house have settled down somewhat. G-Gma has been doing very well these past several days, so we are taking this opportunity to kitty-blog. We have certainly missed it.

Mom needs a new camera so she can start taking pictures of us again. The one she had, died of old age.

We stopped in for a minute to say hi, and we miss our blogging friends.

G-Gma has been going slowly down hill. Sometimes mom has just to much to do. She has not been out of the house for weeks. It's a good thing we have many visitors. She is going out tomorrow night for a few hours. She really needs that. We want to go with her, but she said not this time.

We are hoping to have extra time real soon. Of course we always say that.

We have been having a good time with G-Gma's new wheel chair. Mom said she wanted to get pictures of us, but she don't have time. Mom has been realy busy with taking care of G-Gma and her stores. We miss not blogging, mom said she would help us to day. Here we are!

We were very sorry to hear about all the sick kitties and the ones that have gone to the bridge. That is so sad. We tear up!

G-Gma has been sick off & on, mom and doctors have been trying to regulate her med's better. Some were changed, some were added.

We still like to entertain G-Gma...she gives us treats. We would watch TV with her, but all she watches is, QVC and the weather channel. Mom calls her our official weather broadcaster. We get weather alerts from time to time.

I love to play fetch...mom says I'm so smart. She wads paper into a ball and tosses it, I go get it and bring it back to her. This is one of my favorite games. Mom should take a picture of all the paper wads laying around the house.

Sometimes, late at night, I like to sneak into G-Gma's room and take her shoes. I get tired of dragging them, so I just leave them in the hall. I like socks, too. I can run with them in my mouth. Mom says, I'm a pack-rat. I put everything I collect in my play area where all my toys are....usually!

After a big game of paper wad, I like to rest and stretch.

Catching up w/Secret Paws Christmas '08

We are catching up on what we couldn't post Christmas.

Mom said, we had a Secret Paw...a box came for us just before Christmas. We had so much fun dragging everything out of the box. Our Secret Paw was very good to us. We are still playing with our new toys...the treats are gone. Mom said she has grass for us, too. It was from our Secret Paw, too. She still has to grow it for us. We don't know what it is, but, Mom said we will like it.
Chancy was napping when we opened the box, she wouldn't get up. She is such a party poop sometimes.
Mom says she thinks we boys are just too rowdy for Chancy sometimes.

We want to give our Secret Paw a big thank you and lots of head butts and hugs. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We've over heard our mom telling others that her cats blog. They get this glazed over look..."O.K. She's lost it!"

...and they belong to a cat blogoshere..."Oh Kaaaaah!"

Mom tries to explain:
Jake does the keyboard. Chancy tells him what to type. Babe does spell check and proof reads. How much clearer can she be?

Mom tells them, the blog is called "Ernie's Voice Gang" and Ernie is our spirit guide
...there's that glazed look again... while their heads are bobbing up and down.
...it's just our way of keeping Ernie's memory alive.

When she tells them , we visit other cat blogs and leave comments. REALLY?
...and they visit us, and leave us comments. REALLY?

Mom says we can blog today...we have been waiting a long time. Mom has been catching up on her projects and very busy...she keeps telling us that!

Did you see the new banner and profile picture that mom made for our bloggie? She's not sure we will keep those or make another. We think they are fine, but she's been kinda goofy lately.

Babe and G-Gma are doing just fine. We are so happy about that.

Along with mom catching up on her projects, taking care of us and G-Ma, she had to reformat the hard drive on our big computer. She still has software to reload back and more tweaking to do.

In the mean time, we will use our laptop. We don't care, just so she will help us blog.

Babe's Mom came home from the hospital Wednesday.
She is doing just great. We haven't seen her look and act so good for a long time.

G-Gma is back in hospital again. Babe is a little sad, but we think he knows, she will be home soon.

Jake and Babe have been chasing me every chance they can...I think they like me. They are so ornery!
The cold weather doesn't slow them down. We run through the house and have lots of fun...Mom says it sounds like we have shoes on. We go to G-Gma's room and give her a show...on her bed and under her bed. Then she gives us a treat! We love our treats!

Mom still has pictures of our Christmas presents that our secret paw sent us...she said she wants to show you soon...she has been very busy with G-Gma and a few other things.

We have really missed blogging our friends...Mom said, she will try to help us today. Wish us luck.

Babe has been cuddling bunches with G-Gma. Lots of head butts, hugs, kisses and cuddles galore.

We are happier since G-Gma is home. She talks to us and tells us how sweet we are. We give her hugs, of course our mommy does that for us, too... but G-Gma hugs is the best.

G-Gma is home...

G-Gma is home...she is so happy to be home and with her baby boy "Babe".
Babe was soooooooooo happy to have his mommy home again. Now she can coddle him the way he loves. Lots of petting,hugs and brushing. Babe didn't skip a beat...he jumped right back into his routine with G-Gma.

G-Gma and Babe want to say a BIG THANK YOU for the get well cards and all your support . We are all very thankful for everyones prayers and support.

G-Gma now has a UTI. It's being treated with antibiotics.

She is still very weak and gets breathless very easy. We don't know what to think, she just seems to be at a stand still, aside from the UTI.

Please send her more prayers, hugs and head butts.
Babe misses her hugs and kisses. We are trying to comfort him, but we are not G-Gma.

G-GMA UPDATE Fri 1/9:
G-Gma is in kidney failure. She has about 50% function, maybe less. Just not sure how this will go. She is very fragile. Nothing much has changed in the last 24 to 48 hours. Keep up the good work friends. Your hugs and prayers mean everything. (we are trying to be realistic, but praying for what is best for G-Gma) She is 87. We love her very much. (((HUGS)))

G-GMA UPDATE Wed 1/7:
She has CHF and A-Fib
We new about the CHF from the last time she was in the hospital. She had an episode last night. We thought we were going to lose her.
Thank you for your prayers...they are working.

G-Gma is back in hospital, Babe's mom. She is very sick.
Had to call 911 Sunday night. Waited in E.R. all night.
She got a room about 5 A.M. Monday morning. She is doing a little better today.
Babe was very upset. He hid in her closet until this morning. We gave him lots of kisses and hugs and tried to make him feel better. He came out this morning looking for treats. Now he is touring the house and running. It looks like it could be a couple more days before G-Gma can come home.

Please send all your hugs and prayers G-Gma and Babe's way.

Hi everyone...we have been away a few days. Mom hasn't had time to blog. G-grandma is in the hospital. She seen a doctor Christmas Eve day and she said to go straight to the hospital. She is doing much better now. We are very thankful, that she will be O.K. We are hoping she can come home today.

We had an ice storm early Friday morning...we have been on partial power since and no heat. We managed fine though. Electric heaters and son came over today and done some fancy wiring, now we have heat. Many, many others are without power, yet. Rumors are, power may not be restored until later next week...maybe Christmas Eve. More weather coming w/wind. We are worried more power lines coming down, including the ones that have been repaired.

We are getting political...we have a few ideas for an "Economic Stimulus Package" that will kick start the economy in the...but we don't have all the details worked out yet. Please bare with us.

Every American should receive 1 million dollars. Tax free. That would fix of the economy. We could spend, spend, spend. Now, that's a stimulus package.

Most of us could use a bail out, too!

Maybe Jake could go to Washington and convince them.

In January 2008, Jake moved in with us

This was the 1st place I hid, when I moved in with Chancy and my new Mommy & Daddy.

I didn't stay under the bed very long...it was more fun to come out and join everybody and play!

After I played and played, I fell asleep on my dad's chest...

I found so many things to do in my new home...

I love toys...almost any toy...

One year ago today, we started our blog, in the name of our brother Ernie, who went to the bridge long before it was his time. We needed to do something to help us adjust to Ernie not being with us any longer. You were here for us.

...how did the "Sugar Glider" get in there?

Will you help us solve this mystery.

...how did the Sugar Glider get into the toilet?
...what is your theory?

This is a 2 story house w/basement. Sugar Glider was in the upstairs hall bathroom, located just to the left, across the hall, at the top of stairs. House has 2 1/2 baths.
4 bedrooms, 2 car garage. Also, a whole house fan at the top of stairs.

Ernie's Voice's gang theory is...it came through the opened garage, the open door to the laundry room, through the kitchen, family room, front entrance, up the stairs...into the bathroom, maybe smelling water, jumped up to get a drink, fell into, couldn't get out!

Do you have a theory? If so...will you let us know what it is?

Her/he is wrapped in a small towel. Like maybe a hand towel.

Animal Control examined the baby Sugar Glider and found her/he to be healthy and disease free.

google... "Sugar Glider"

Sugar gliders are marsupials; the young are born very immature and grow in a pouch on the mother's abdomen. Sugar gliders have furry membranes that extend from their wrists to their ankles (the membrane is called a patagium) that allows them to glide through the air. In the wild they move from tree to tree by gliding. Their hind feet have a large, opposable big toe that helps them grip branches, and the second and third toe forms a grooming comb.
The ability to "fly" or glide when they spread out in this parachute fashion is similar to the ability of the Flying Squirrel. But other than that, they are very different animals than the Flying Squirrel.

Jake says: I'm sure you've noticed, nobody has asked me for help. I would've just reached in there and pulled it out! I'm super at fishing. Well, maybe...well, I don't know, if it was a rat...I could handle that. Maybe! What if it was a snake? I can handle that, too! Maybe!

Just to fill you in...my uncle, my mom's brother, sent mom an email with this mystery story...he had a very exciting Tuesday morning. We loved the story so much...he gave us a good laugh...we wanted to share it with you. Enjoy!

If you haven't read the first part of this story...posted yesterday...please do...before you read the 2nd part.
Mom says, she won't post any pictures today, because, it would spoil the mystery.

The mystery toilet guest! ...Part Two

Contunue here:

I race out of the hallway bathroom and into our bedroom, and fling open our bathroom door.

Jan looks at me….must have been a sight….I’m standing there in my sweats, wearing rubber gloves while holding a hoe….at about seven o’clock in the morning!

”What are you doing?” she says.

“I don’t know what to do.”

“What do you mean, you don’t know what to do,” she asks with her wet hair combed straight down wearing only a look of confusion.

“I don’t know what to do. There’s a rat in the toilet, and I don’t know what to do!”

“A RAT?” she yelled back at me with a look of terror in her eyes that Steven King would kill for.

“I don’t know what to do! There is a rat in the toilet and I don’t know what to do! Come on. You have to see this. I need you to see this ‘cause if I tell someone about this and no one else saw it, people with think I am crazy!”

Cautiously Jan leaves the safety of the bathroom in our bedroom and enters the hall with me. We approach the door, and she slowly walks toward the toilet ahead of me….

”AWHHH GAAWWWD!

What are you going to do?” she cries loudly.

“I don’t know….I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO!”

Call animal control, Jan says.

OK….So I take off the rubber gloves and lean the hoe against the wall. I tell Jan to go ahead and get finished and I’ll make the call. She suggests to close the door and put the rug under it, so the creature won’t get out. Good idea. So that’s what we do…..and leave the light on.

Jan goes back into the bedroom to get finished and I run downstairs to call animal control.

After looking feverishly in the phone book, finally finding animal control in the front, under city government, I make the call.

“Hello, what is your emergency?” the kind voice on the other end says.

“Good morning, I need some help. I have a rat in my toilet.”

“A RAT? In your toilet?” she curiously asks.

“Yeh.”

(I can tell there’s a big grin on her face as she says) “How big is it?”

“About three to four inches. Can I get someone over here to get it out?”

She takes my name and address and says she’ll make a call.

She calls me back three minutes later to say animal control is on its way. Will be there in about 20 to 25 minutes.

I make my morning coffee while waiting….very black…..not very hungry right now. 10 minutes go by, I pour a cup.

Finally, about 25 minutes later a van with “animal control” on the side pulls up to the curb. Really glad to see it.

I meet the young courageous lady at the door. She is armed with a fishing net and a towel. A fishing net and a towel? I thought.

Hey, don’t tell her I was going to use rubber gloves and a hoe. Man, what was I thinking?

We go upstairs……the door is still shut. I described what was in the toilet…..furry, big tail almost to the water…still alive!

I open the door, she walks in ahead of me. She puts her head right down to within inches of the front of the toilet, looks in, and says “Awwwwww…….”

I said “awwwww what? What do you mean “awwwwww”?

“It’s a baby….a baby squirrel…a flying squirrel…..it’s called a Sugar Glider. Was probably someone’s pet,” she said.

Someone’s pet?, I thought to myself. Hmmmm. And I was ready to go get my .35 remington marlin rifle and blast it!

She grabbed up the water-logged thing with the towel and held it like a baby right after a bath.

She said it probably got into the house when we had a door open, “cause they do that,” she said.

Ok, I’ll take her word for it.

We took the “thing from the toilet” out to her van at the curb and I took a few pictures, ‘cause Jan and I will never forget this.

The animal control officer put the little thing in a small cage. “This will be the story of day,” she said with some finality.

After talking a few minutes, the rescuer drove away and the danger of the morning disappeared. Whew. What a morning. And it’s only about eight o’clock.

I’ll be inspecting this house for the next several months (how about years?) for sure. I will always wonder why the thing was so wet. There was the time at about five o'clock this morning when I got up as nature called. Hmmmm. I wonder if.....forget it, not gonna think about it.

All’s well that ends well, I guess.

If I live to be 130 years old, I will never look in a toilet the same way again.

Hi there...this is Chancy...we have a real mystery here, do you think you can solve it?

My mom's brother had quite an adventure yesterday morning.

The mystery toilet guest!

Can you guess what it might be?

It’s Tuesday morning, October 14, 2008, ten till seven. Jan is in the shower and I think I’ll get up.

I walk to the kid’s bathroom in the hallway and go in. I look at where I am going….wait a minute. What’s that? is that something in the…..in the toilet? Well, who did that and didn’t flush. Yeh who? It’s only Jan and me in the house now. Wait….is that….what is it? There’s something in the toilet and, and uh, I need a closer look!

So I turned on the light, inched a little closer to the uncovered bowl…..what the? I see fur….and a tail……IT’S A RAT!! A BIG DAMN RAT!!

I can’t believe it…..all kinds of things are going through my mind….is it alive?…..let me get close again and, uh, take another look…….IT TURNED IT’S HEAD! IT’S GOT TO BE ALIVE IF IT TURNED IT’S HEAD, RIGHT?
NOW WHAT DO I DO?

I better get something…do something! I better first put on some pants. I get my sweats and yank ‘em up, and throw on a polo shirt.

Hurry….I go downstairs, race through the kitchen and into the garage. There has to be something in the garage I can use to kill this thing……wow…KILL THIS THING….do I gotta do that?

I still can’t believe what I am doing as I get into the garage. What can I get…better hurry…a bucket….nah, that’s no good. I know, I’ll get my new tree pruner….that will do it…..and a hoe…yeh, I’ll just take down this hoe …..better get my rubber gloves….OK, get upstairs quickly….wait a minute….a tree trimmer? What the hell am I going to do with this tree trimmer…the pole on this thing is eight feet long….way too long to control…anyway, what am I gonna do, clip off the creatures head?

I put the trimmer next to the back door and get back into the house. I hurried up to the bathroom while slipping on the rubber gloves and trying to carry the hoe. Better look again and see if he’s……..yep, he’s still there….nose under the porcelain rim in the front of the bowl with his tail, his soggy furry tail, almost in the water. Oh my God…this is sooooooo gross!

Ok, I have my rubber gloves on, set. I have the hoe, set.

You big dummy, what are you going to do with a hoe?! One swing and porcelain and water will be scattered all over the floor and you’ll be going solo with a RAT in the bathroom!

Now what the heck am I going to do…must have asked myself that a hundred times, at least.

Hey, I gotta tell Jan. Maybe SHE will know what to do.

"The Rainbow Bridge"
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Today we have set aside in honor of Ernie's memory. One year ago today, August 14, 2007...Ernie lost his fight with lymphoma.

We still miss him very much. Mom still gets teary eyed when she thinks about him. We loved him very much and will never forget his silly playfulness.
When ever Mom was sick, Ernie would lay on the bed with her. It was like he new!

Poor Jake, he has often been called Ernie...In some silly way, maybe Ernie is in him.

Our lives will always be a little better for having Ernie in our lives. See you later friend, we love you.

We are still waiting for mom to help us blog again. She has been very busy...g-g-gma & Babe moved in with us. The family has been very busy helping to get her house ready to sell. We are having a garage sale today, tomorrow & Saturday.
Wish her luck with her garage sale...we are hoping it does very well.
We wanted to go help, but mom says maybe us cats should just stay home. O.K... then we will just play & run together and just have fun. Later we will lay around in our favorite spots and snooze until they get home.

We have been trying to find the time to blog, but everything has been very hectic with a laundry list of happenings. We have been waiting & waiting & waiting...

Chancy says:...Jake is as playful as ever, even tho he had his hoo-ha-ectomy yesterday morning. He went to the vet at 8am and came home at 3:30pm. He found his rat and began play where he left off the night before. We didn't know if that would be good for him or not. But, he is fine today, eating, playing & napping as usual.

Jake says:...Mom is feeling much better now. It has taken such a long time for her to get her wind back. In May Chancy had her 7th birthday and we couldn't celebrate it. We are hoping to do that for her soon.

We have enjoyed all the visits from all our furry friends. Thank you for not forgetting us! We love you all.

Finally Friday

Finally it's Friday! Cousin Babe & great grandma have been staying with us for the past 2 weeks. We have been really busy, that's why we haven't had time to blog. So we begged mom to let us blog today. Yah!
Since cousin Babe has been here, we have been chasing each other & play fighting a lot. Usually around bed time...and driving everybody crazy. Jake seems to be the real instigator here. He never seems to know when to stop. Jake loves to chase Babe and Babe loves to chase me. We fly in & out of the rooms, down the hall, over the furniture, across the beds, over & over again. Since I am the more mature cat here, I'm usually the 1st one to stop the insanity and go to sleep. Babe goes to bed with great grandma, then Jake has to go to bed, because there is no one left to terrorize.

Jake says...
Just look what I can do now. Notice how I support myself by balancing my back feet on the edge of the tank. Now I can get my front feet wet in the tank, then maybe grab a fish or two.
What a guy I am! Notice those rippling muscles...I am wonderful!

Jake recently found the birds...he loves to watch them.

We are in prayer mode for all concerned and also very thankful...we have many healthy & happy kitties on the blogosphere.

Here's where I climb, when I don't want Jake to get me. He hasn't figured out yet, all he needs to do is jump up here. Until he does, I'll enjoy the time. He loves to play fight, but I get tired of it. He is cute though!
Jake got in the dryer again today. He seems to like cuddling up with the warm clothes.

This week is National Animal Poison Prevention Week and I'd like to showcase a few tips pet owners can take to keep their cats (and other pets) safe from poisonous substances. As every cat owner knows, cats and especially kittens love to get into things. That old saying "curiosity killed the cat" can be all too true when it comes to poisons.

Cats are hunters and unfortunately people frequently use poison to kill rodents or other "varmints" in their house or yard. In the world of toxic substances, you sometimes see references on labels about injury or death of "unintended target species." If a cat hunts, kills, and eats a poisoned rodent, she can become one of those "unintended targets." (So can kids, dogs and wildlife!)

Another unintentional way cats are poisoned is when humans attempt to give them over-the-counter medication. For example, acetaminophen, which is used in Tylenol and various cold medications is extremely toxic to cats. Never give your cat Tylenol; one tablet can kill a cat.

Cats are particularly sensitive to chemicals absorbed through their skin, so read labels carefully on the pet-care and household products you use. Topical flea products, soaps, cleaning chemicals, and insecticides you might use in your house or garden often contain chemicals that are toxic to cats, so read the label of any product you intend to use.

Also be sure to "pet proof" your household. Many common houseplants and outdoor plants are toxic to cats. The ASPCA site has a list of toxic plants and other common poisons.

Any time you suspect your cat may have been poisoned, take her to a veterinarian immediately. Prompt treatment can save her life. You want your cat to remain healthy and live a long time, so take a few simple steps to keep her safe.

Happy St. Pat's Day?

We are finally able to blog. Everybody is ok...our human aunt is out of the hospital and feeling much better. She is home with her family & their kitty Hannah. She thinks Hannah missed her the most!

Our human cousin is doing great since he had heart surgery almost two weeks ago. He is home with his family and 4 kitties. They all missed him very much.

Our human brother went back to college yesterday after being home for spring break. We are always sad to see him leave. Since he is finishing up his 6th year of school, you would think we would be used to him leaving by now...NO!
